Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture, Dr. Donald Rhodd leaves the island tomorrow (October 25) to represent Jamaica at the 13th meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development in Georgetown, Guyana.
Highlight of the meeting will be discussions on Youth, Sports and Drugs.
The summit, which will last from Wednesday, October 26 to Friday, October 28, will be held under the theme: ‘Youth in the CSME: Perspectives, Prospects and Challenges’. Representatives will also examine youth and development concerns, such as ‘Employment Opportunities in the CSME’, ‘Youth’, ‘Gender and Education’, ‘Youth Risk and Vulnerability: Implications for Development’, ‘Trends in the use and abuse of Drugs’, and ‘Fashioning a Demand Reduction Programme for Drugs’.
Dr. Rhodd, who has responsibility for Youth, will be presenting a position paper at the summit. He returns to the island this Saturday, October 29.
