Director of Research, Print and Production
Bio
Andrine Davidson is an award-winning journalist and communications professional who possesses strong research, management, and training skills. With more than thirty years of experience in the industry across both the private and public sectors, Mrs. Davidson has developed broad-based skill sets in several key areas of communication, management and strategy.
She has demonstrated excellence in creating quality media products, planning and executing projects, revenue generation, publications development and publishing, newsroom management,
general media management, monitoring and strategy, public education, content writing and editing, and copyright management.
As Director of Research, Print and Production at the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), she oversees the Research and Publications, Digitisation, Editorial and Photography Departments, as well as the Montego Bay and St. Thomas Regional Offices. As former Acting Director of Electronic Production, she provided leadership for the Television, Radio, Computer Services and Social Media Departments. In that capacity, she guided the JIS production team in the successful execution and broadcast of several conferences and events of national importance. Under her leadership, the Division achieved outcomes that improved the delivery of real-time information on the work of the Government of Jamaica, strengthening both relevance and reach.
Mrs. Davidson is also an accomplished project management professional. As Special Projects Manager at JIS, she executed numerous Corporate Social Responsibility and Brand Management programmes at both the corporate and community levels, increasing stakeholder engagement while promoting Government programmes and policies. She was also instrumental in helping the Agency meet its reporting obligations by leading the preparation of its Quarterly Performance and Annual Reports.
She has worked closely with the Agency’s Executive Office, leading special initiatives and contributing to organisational strategy. An innovator, she pioneered the JIS Digitisation Project and the Agency’s Fact Checking Unit. She also led the research and coordinated the publishing of the Agency’s award-winning Jamaica 50 commemorative photography book.
A capable Intellectual Property management administrator, Mrs. Davidson currently heads the JIS Intellectual Property Management Committee, which oversees the licensing and management of JIS-owned media assets.
Throughout her career in private media, she rose through the ranks, serving as Reporter, Sub-editor and Associate Editor. Over the years, she has received several awards and honours, including recognition from the Press Association of Jamaica and the World Health Organization, as well as distinctions such as Manager of the Year, Employee of Choice and Civil Servant of the Year.
Mrs. Davidson holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of the West Indies, Mona; a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate and Commercial Law from UWI, Cave Hill; and a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from Liverpool John Moores University. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Mona School of Business, and is a certified Job Readiness Trainer.
A continuous learner, she has completed numerous short courses including the CARICAD Mid-Level Leadership Development Programme, the Coaching Skills for Leaders Programme, the United States Embassy’s Effective Government Communications Programme, and trainings in Speech Writing, Value Selling, and Financial Analysis.
A former Director of the Press Association of Jamaica, where she served for four years, Mrs. Davidson helped steer the successful execution of five National Journalism Awards ceremonies.
