KINGSTON — The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) has said that of 1,699 cases handled during the financial year 2008/09, 1,568 were resolved, a 92.28 per cent resolution rate.
Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunication and Special Project, Hon. Daryl Vaz, gave details of the annual report at yesterday's Post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
The Minister said that the Commission witnessed a slight reduction in the number of complaints it handles, which may have resulted from the relocation of its office in August and the resulting temporary absence of telephone and e-mail facilities.
The Commission was ranked among the top performers, in terms of contributing to the Government’s policy research committees and realised a net surplus of $7 million at the end of the year.
The Annual Report will be tabled in the Houses of Parliament by the Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Karl Samuda
