  • The contract is for 36 months

Cabinet has approved contracts worth $468.8 million and US$295,147 to Fluid System Engineering Limited, to provide consulting engineering services for the Jamaica Water Supply Improvement Project, Category B works.

The project includes: the Rio Cobre pipeline replacement from Content to Ferry; supply and installation of 20,000 Solid State Domestic Water meters and 3,000 Mechanical Class C large water meters; repairs to Great River and Martha Brae Water Treatment Plants; and refurbishment of Bogue Water Treatment Plant.

The US$295,147 portion of the contract is for procurement of equipment from overseas.

“The Government of Jamaica is undertaking Category B Works under the Jamaica Water Supply Improvement Project to address certain water supply deficiencies in urban and rural towns,” Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer noted, as she provided details on July 17, at the Jamaica House press briefing. The contract is for 36 months.

Meanwhile, Cabinet also approved the award of a contract for $45.34 million to D. Bisasor and Company Limited for the construction of the Lady Musgrave Montrose/Upper Montrose Roads sanitary collector sewers.

The works will include the construction of approximately 300 metres of 16 inch, 700 metres of 10 inch and 700 metres of 8 inch nominal diameter sanitary sewers, as well as connections to numerous existing sewer manholes.
