Cabinet has approved a contract in the amount of CAN$19.9 million to Intelcan Technosystems Inc. for the design, construction and equipping of two control towers for the Norman Manley and Sangster International airports.

Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, speaking at the July 15 post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, said that the new towers would ensure adequate visual and effective control of the manoeuvring areas.
He said that the “Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority was keen to ensure that cost savings is derived from establishing both new towers at the same time.”
Meanwhile, Cabinet endorsed the appointment of additional persons to the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Fire Brigade effective April 16, 2010. The new members are: Major Richard Reese; Mr. Physon Pryce; Mrs. Dorothy Finlayson and Miss Pauline Reynolds.
The appointment of Dr. Carlton Davis as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Centre for Environmental and Nuclear Sciences, with effect from July 1, 2010, was also approved.
Cabinet also gave the go ahead for the appointment of members to the Board of Directors of the Spectrum Management Authority with effect from July 1, 2010. The members are: Mrs. Samantha Charles; Mr. Rupert Bent; Mr. Trevor Forest and Mr. Clement Jackson.
