Cabinet has approved the appointment of a new board of directors for the Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) for a three-year term.
Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, said the appointments took effect on December 6, 2010 and will remain in place until January 5, 2013.
He made the announcement during the weekly post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House on Wednesday (December 15).
The members include Executive Director, Financial Services Commission, Rohan Barnett; Attorney-at-Law and Lecturer, Celia Brown-Blake; Chief Operating Officer, Musson Group, Nigel Clarke; Director General, Planning Institute of Jamaica, Dr. Gladstone Hutchinson; and Businessman, Mark Myers.
Ex officio members are: BoJ Governor and Chairman, Brian Wynter; BoJ Deputy Chairman, Audrey Anderson; and Financial Secretary, Dr. Wesley Hughes.
Minister Vaz also announced the appointment of Attorney-at-Law and Chairman, National Housing Trust, Howard Mitchell to the board of directors of the Cocoa Industry Board, as well as the appointment of Chairman of the Fred M. Jones Estate, Dr. Richard Jones, as Chairman of the Coconut Industry Board.
Engineer, David Chung, will remain as Chairman of the Housing Agency of Jamaica; while Special Advisor, Minister of Education, Ruel Reid, will sit on the board of the National Council on Technical Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET).
