KINGSTON – Cabinet has approved two contracts, valued at over $1.54 billion, for the construction of housing solutions at Stadium Gardens Phase 3 in Kingston, and the Hellshire Housing Development Phase IV, St. Catherine.
This was disclosed by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, at Wednesday’s March 16 Post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
He said that the Stadium Gardens Phase 3 contract, valued at $349.8 million, has been awarded to Alcar Construction and Haulage Company Limited, for the construction of 50 two-bedroom townhouses with associated infrastructure. The project is part of the National Housing Programme being spearheaded by the Ministry of Water and Housing.
In the meantime, he said Cabinet approved a contract, valued at $1.2 billion to Ashtrom Building Systems Limited, for the design and construction of housing and infrastructure works at Hellshire Housing Development Phase IV, St. Catherine. He noted that this will involve 226 housing solutions.
The contracts were awarded on the recommendation of the National Contracts Commission and the Cabinet’s Infrastructure Sub-committee.
