The Government has allocated $110 million to renovate the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information’s head office at National Heroes Circle and its Caenwood Centre facilities on Arnold Road in Kingston, during the 2019/20 fiscal year.

Details are provided in the 2019/20 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

The project is titled ‘Renovation and Modification of Caenwood and Heroes Circle Premises’.

Work at the National Heroes Circle complex will entail renovation of bathroom facilities, while activities at the Caenwood Centre will involve the renovation of the Georgian Building, upgrading sanitary facilities and upgrading of the parking and entranceway of the facility.

The initial duration of the project was between April 2016 and March 2019, but it has been extended to March 2020.

Achievements to date include renovation of bathroom facilities at the Ministry’s Caenwood and Heroes Circle Block One, construction of a perimeter wall at Heroes Circle, completed renovation of Grant and Allen Hall, and the commencement of renovation of the Georgian Building.
