The country’s youth must pursue success in all aspects of their lives, in order  to achieve prosperity.

This was emphasised by Minister of Education, Senator the Hon.  Ruel Reid, while addressing high school students at the Inaugural Success Rally for Teens 2016, held on May 27, in Kingston.

He pointed out that only 15 percent of the population are accessing university education, and that number needs to be increased to at least 80 percent.

“We need all of you to be fully trained, certified and equipped, so that you can tackle all the challenges that the 21st Century throw at you,” the Minister told the students.

Stressing that young people must become creators and innovators, and  owners of intellectual property, where they are not just “users and consumers” of technology, the Minister said that surrounding themselves with persons who work  for maximum success will help them to be top achievers.

“Don’t allow yourselves to be led by those who settle for the bare minimum. Stick around people who are positive. Gravitate to people who want you to achieve great things. And never, never ever allow anyone to tell you that you don’t deserve the best that life has to offer,” he urged.

Meanwhile, Custos of Kingston, Hon. Steadman Fuller, told the students that the forum provided an opportunity to gain “insight on how to find pathways for a brighter future.”

The Custos said young people have the advantage of technology at their fingertips, and with the passion to succeed and the right value systems, they can make it.

The event, organized by Children Upliftment and Restoration Foundation, had as its main feature, presentations on ‘Element of Success’ by several persons from the public and private sectors.
