Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, has extended best wishes to the Jamaica Paralympic team as they prepare to participate in the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games set to commence on September 7.
“You are a very small team. But so is our country. Our size has never stopped us astonishing the world. Wi likkle but wi tallawah! We know you will give of your best and when you do that you will be satisfied, your family will be satisfied, your coaches and support teams will be satisfied, our entire nation will be satisfied,” Minister Grange said at the Jamaica Paralympic Association Press Conference, earlier today at the Jamaica Olympic Association Head Quarters in Kingston.
The team representing Jamaica will include Alphanso Cunningham, Shane Hudson and Dana-Gaye Weller.
Minister Grange also highlighted that the team is an inspiration to the country, overcoming many challenges to be able to perform at such a high level.
“You demonstrate each and every day what it means to keep going when things get rough; how to stare adversity in the face, refusing its limitations and pushing yourselves to ever -higher levels of achievement,” she said.
The Sport Minister also used the opportunity to commend the Jamaican athletes who represented the country in the recently concluded Rio Olympics.
