President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS), Richard Powell, is reaffirming his company’s commitment to support Jamaica’s development, particularly the social sector.

Mr. Powell, who delivered brief remarks during a VMBS-sponsored power breakfast at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort, in Montego Bay, St. James, on June 16, said the financial institution takes its corporate responsibilities “very seriously.”

“As a mutual organisation, we regard our responsibility to the wider society to include making meaningful contributions to the development of our country,” he said, pointing out that the entity’s corporate responsibility programme speaks “eloquently” of its commitment to Jamaica’s development.

The power breakfast formed part of activities scheduled for this year’s sixth staging of the Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference from June 13 to 18, at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, under the theme: ‘Jamaica and the Diaspora: Linking for Growth and Prosperity’.

More than 1,600 delegates from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom are attending the conference.
