The Full Story

Entrepreneurs and business operators looking to tap into lucrative government contracts are being advised to visit the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) booth at Expo Jamaica 2025.

PPC will be among several entities showcasing their goods and services at the four-day trade show, which will take place from April 3 to 6 at the National Arena and the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston.

Executive Director of the PPC, Nadia Morris, told JIS News that persons who visit the PPC booth will benefit from one-on-one engagement with the team members, who will provide critical guidance on navigating the public procurement process.

She said that suppliers who are interested in doing business with government may bring in their documentation for on-spot registration.

Under Government of Jamaica procurement guidelines, suppliers and contractors of goods, services and infrastructure works must register to provide service to public-sector entities once the value of service exceeds $1.5 million.

“This is an avenue to come on board and take a piece of the pie with regards to engaging in public procurement,” Ms. Morris said.

“Our Supplier Registration System will be up and running. You’ll have to bring the documentation – at least the six mandatory ones – to be able to participate in that or start the process with regard to registration,” she informed.

Fourteen documents are required to complete the application for supplier registration as mandated by the Public Procurement (Registration and Classification of Suppliers) Regulations, 2019.

However, the PPC can begin processing applications if it has received six essential documents – Tax Compliance Certificate, Status Letter, Declaration Form 1 and Form 2, Letter/Certificate of Approval from Relevant Regulatory Bodies, ‘No Conflict-of-Interest Letter’ and Audited Financial Statements.

The Get the Facts Flyer – PPC Registration Guidelines on the PPC website, www.ppc.gov.jm., provides the complete list of required documents.

Expo Jamaica is the largest and most influential exhibition and trade show in the English-speaking Caribbean, exclusively showcasing Jamaican-made products and services.
