The Ministry of Education will compensate for the loss of two days to the school year, due to last week’s strike by teachers, by limiting the mid-term break to Labour Day only.
In a release Tuesday (May 11), the Ministry pointed out that Labour Day, Monday, May 24, is a national holiday and no additional days should be given, before or after the national holiday, which means that schools will be closed only on Labour Day for mid-term.
The Ministry also stated that a decision has been made not to pursue docking the salaries of teachers who had not turned up for work on the two days of the strike.
