Hurricane Matthew – NEOC Activation Level 1
The National Disaster Risk Management Council (NDRMC) chaired by the Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, held an emergency Council Meeting yesterday at Jamaica House to address the threat posed by Hurricane Matthew. The Prime Minister has placed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies on alert with a view to finalize their preparedness activities in respect of the threat posed by Hurricane Matthew.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management (ODPEM) activated the Hurricane Standing Orders on Monday September 26, 2016. The ODPEM has now activated the National Emergency Operation Centre at level 1.
The NEOC is the designated administrative hub for disaster or emergency response; it is therefore the “nerve centre” for Disaster response and recovery services.
