The National Water Commission (NWC) has made a generous donation of $50,000, a six-burner gas stove and toiletries to the Trelawny Infirmary.
During the handover ceremony held at the facility on January 30, Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Colin Gager, thanked the agency for the donations.
“May God continue to bless you in all your endeavours and of course we know that we must play our part too, so we will continue to play our part. We appreciate this, you have answered the call at the right and proper time. May we continue to have a very good relationship,” Mr. Gager said.
Acting Regional Manager at NWC St. James and Trelawny, Horace Binns, stated that the donation formed part of a larger thrust by the agency to give back.
“The staff of NWC, we thought it necessary to see how we can contribute to the society in general, how we can support the persons who are most vulnerable, and this initiative was conceptualized by our president, Kevin Kerr,” he stated.
“When we met with the infirmary, they highlighted some needs to us and based upon what was committed from our corporate office, we also went to our staff. Our staff decided that they would support the corporate initiative by giving additional support from their personal funds. So, some of the things that are here are directly coming from the partnership with the staff of the NWC and from the NWC corporate office,” Mr. Binns added.
He also committed to lending even more assistance to the infirmary in the future.
