“The US Travel Channel feature, “Jamaica: The Ultimate Tour” is sure to bring world attention to Jamaica as a vacation destination of choice and boosts the island’s tourist industry”, says Tourism Director Paul Pennicook.
The special television feature, which is scheduled for airing on Thursday, September 15 at 9:00 p.m. local time, will showcase the various attractions and cultural elements of Jamaica as seen through the eyes of the Prime Minister, the Most Honourable P.J Patterson as he hosts noted travel journalist Peter Greenberg on a tour of the island.
The feature is part of the Travel Channel’s popular Royal and Presidential Tour specials, which have included adventures in countries such as Jordan, New Zealand, Peru and Uganda. The feature on Jamaica will be the first to bear the title “The Ultimate Tour”.
Elated by the premiering of the show, Mr. Pennicook went on to state that “the production of the television feature by the renowned travel journalist was a solid endorsement of Jamaica’s tourist industry and an affirmation of the island as a premier destination”.
He added that the television feature would support the promotional efforts of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and postulated that it would redound to an increase in visitor arrivals to Jamaica. “The Travel Channel feature sends a clear message not only to Jamaica but to the rest of the world that our tourist industry is indeed a force to be reckoned with”, the Tourism Director asserted.
The Travel Channel reaches more than 80 million homes in United States and is broadcast worldwide in over 50 countries.
