Two training courses are to be implemented this fiscal year for Government and non-Government officers in European Union (EU) procedures.

This is to be done under the Technical Cooperation Facility (TCF) V project, for which $129.3 million has been provided in the 2016/17 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.

The project seeks to identify, formulate and implement activities financed under the European Development Fund (EDF) and other EU funds.

Its overall objective is to contribute to the implementation of the Jamaican Government’s development strategy through support to EU-financed programmes and a coherent and informed approach to development and trade issues.

For the 2016/17 period under the project, it is expected that two projects/programmes will be prepared for funding; and funding will be provided for persons from State entities to attend six conferences or seminars.

The project, which runs from November 2014 to November 2020, is being implemented by the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ),  with funding from the European Union.
