The Full Story

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that on Saturday, August 19, 2023, the traffic signals at the Howard Cooke Boulevard and Market Street intersection in St. James will be taken out of operation to facilitate the relocation of a mast arm pole.

The signal will be out of operation between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, says that with the development of a major commercial facility in the area and the anticipated increase in traffic, works have been undertaken to widen the intersection, to accommodate the projected increase in traffic flow.

Consequently, Ms. Ricketts says that the Agency will now be making the necessary accommodation to the existing traffic signal to complement the changes which have been made at the intersection.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signals and instructions of flag persons.
