The Full Story

Effective Saturday, May 18, 2024, rehabilitative works will commence along a section of Patrick Drive in St. Andrew.

The project, which will target the section of roadway between Washington Boulevard and Conway Drive, will have some traffic restrictions. The project will be in effect for eight weeks.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw says the project will include the cleaning of side drains, milling of the asphalt surface and resurfacing of 6,000 square metres of roadway with asphaltic concrete.

He explained that due to the nature of the activities, some restrictions will have to be imposed at the intersection of Patrick Drive and Washington Boulevard.

Mr. Shaw said that regular traffic movements from Washington Boulevard onto Patrick Drive will be maintained as per the usual traffic signal cycle.

He stated however, that especially in the initial stages of the project, no traffic movement will be allowed from Patrick Drive onto Washington Boulevard. Motorists exiting the Patrick City community roads onto Washington Boulevard may use Daytona Drive or Duhaney Drive.

Motorists are being advised to expect some delays, consistent with construction activities, and to use alternative routes where possible.

Caution signs and flag persons will be in place, on the project, to guide vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Road users are being urged to obey the instructions of the flag-persons and posted warning signs.
