The Full Story

The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) has extended the application deadline for the Tourism Innovation Incubator to October 21.

The initiative invites persons 18 years and older to come forward with innovative ideas for products and technology that will help to develop the tourism industry in Jamaica.

Innovators will be assisted on the path to commercialisation through the Tourism Incubator Boot Camp.

Manager, Research and Risk Management at TEF, Gis’elle Jones, told JIS News: “Tourism Enhancement Fund is very excited to extend our call for applicants… giving interested parties more time to work on their pitches.

“Therefore, if you have a great idea, submit it to us by October 21 and we will help you get from idea to commercialisation,” she said.

The incubator will facilitate or provide access to training, direct coaching and mentoring to take the ideas to market.

Through partnerships, the TEF will be providing a mix of services such as business model development, a 3D digital prototype of ideas, and a platform to pitch to investors.

Interested persons may submit their pitch to https://tef.gov.jm/tourism-incubator/ before October 21.

Submissions require the completion of an application form, which is available on the aforementioned webpage, and the form should be accompanied by a 60-second pitch stating the name and description of the innovation, why it should be selected and the name of the applicant.

The Tourism Innovation Incubator was launched on September 30 in observance of Tourism Awareness Week.

It is a development programme that will offer mentorship, strategy planning and business lessons for 25 selected applicants.
