Persons planning to attend the 2009 Independence Grand Gala on Thursday, August 6, at the National Stadium, in Kingston, will be able to obtain their free tickets for the event by this weekend.
Tickets will be available at Tastee Limited outlets and Post Offices in the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Thomas, Clarendon, and at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) offices.
Additionally, tickets can also be obtained at Inland Revenue Department branches and the Registrar General’s Department outlets.
“Tickets will be available at these outlets as of this weekend,” Executive Director of the JCDC, Delroy Gordon, said at a JIS Think Tank, yesterday (July 29).
Mr Gordon said that persons would not be allowed to enter the stadium without tickets. “Admittance will only be by tickets. Patrons are therefore encouraged to collect their tickets early,” he emphasised.
He pointed out that the gates would be opened at 1:30 p.m. and patrons should be seated by 4:30 p.m.
The Executive Director said that they would be monitoring the distribution of tickets, to ensure that all Jamaicans get an opportunity to attend the ceremony.
