Three of Jamaica’s Top Athletes for Millrose Games

Three of Jamaica’s top international athletes will compete in this weekend’s 98th annual running of the prestigious Millrose Games at Madison Square Gardens, New York City.
Quarter miler, Sandie Richards; sprinter, Tayna Lawrence and sprint hurdler, Vonette Dixon will compete in the five-hour event, which officially kicks off the New York indoor season. The 40-event meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4.
Miss Richards, a member of Jamaica’s mile relay team at the last summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, will compete in the individual women’s 400 metres.A member of Jamaica’s historic women’s sprint relay gold medal winning team, Miss Lawrence is down to compete in the women’s 60-metre dash.
Miss Dixon will compete in the 60-metre hurdles race.Regarded as the United States greatest indoor track meet, the Millrose Games bring together athletes from high schools, colleges, clubs and the professionals. Twenty-two medals were won at the Athens Olympics by athletes who participated in the 2004 Millrose Games.
