The Full Story

The recently appointed three-member panel to conduct an administrative review of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) building approval process will be providing recommendations for reform.

The review is intended to improve efficiency and transparency of the building development approval process.

At a recent monthly meeting of the KSAMC, at the Corporation’s downtown Kingston offices, Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Andrew Swaby, said the mandate for the three-member panel is to conduct a thorough evaluation of the current system, including internal and external factors that impact approval.

“The panel’s work will focus on identifying weaknesses and inefficiencies to the development approval process, as well as proposing actionable recommendations,” he said.

Mr. Swaby said deliverables will include a comprehensive assessment document and a public awareness presentation to share the findings and plans.

“They will be working closely with the department heads and external agencies to recommend improvement that will make the process more efficient,” he noted.

Mr. Swaby said the review is intended to enhance the development approval process for the benefit of all stakeholders.
