Text lines will remain open until November 30 for donations to the I Love Jamaica Telethon and Virtual Concert.
The event forms part of the national effort to support recovery, following the passage of Category Five Hurricane Melissa on October 28.
Jamaicans can donate by adding credit to their Digicel or Flow phones and texting one of the following lines as many times as they wish: 1876-444-5501 – J$150, 1876-444-5502 – $1,000 or 1876-444-5503 – $5,000.
Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, has praised the entertainment industry for its support.
“Everyone who has participated in this telethon has given his or her efforts for free. Nobody’s being paid and it’s a fact that the entertainment industry and Jamaicans have come together to show our love,” she said.

The Minister pointed out that the telethon is a fitting way to raise funds.
“Our music has been a music for all seasons and we have penetrated the world, all corners of the world, with our music. There’s music when we’re sad, when we’re in love, when we’re praising Jah, and when we just want to show that we care. This telethon is living proof that our music [provides] words of inspiration, words that give us strength [and] we’re drawing on that today while we get the funds to give support,” she noted.
The Minister advised that the telethon will be available online after it concludes and urged viewers to donate on the various platforms.
“You can go to japromise.org, you can go to supportjamaica.gov.jm and it’s very easy to donate,” she said.
