Targeted Farmers’ Market in Negril, Westmoreland this Wednesday

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, RADA, is to host a targeted farmers’ market in Negril, Westmoreland at the Norman Manley Sea Park (near round about) this Wednesday, March 30, 2011, from 6a.m. to 6p.m. This, as it seeks to take-off the excess in several primary crops which still exists.
The market will cater primarily to small hoteliers, villas and the general public and offers an opportunity for tourism interests to participate in the on-going markets.
Like the previous markets, a wide assortment of fruits, vegetables and ground provision will be available. Approximately 30 farmers are to participate in the Negril market.
In the meantime, the next round of regular markets is still on for this Friday. Markets will be held in:-
St. Andrew – the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Football field (Hope Gardens)
St. Catherine – Praise Plaza, Port Henderson Road
Portland – Folly Oval
St. Mary – All Island Banana Growers Boxing Plant; and in
Manchester – RADA Parich Office Compound
St. James – RADA Parish Office Compound.
More than $17 million dollars was earned at the last farmers’ market held (March 18) across six locations.
