Students Encouraged To Apply For NHT’s Construction Scholarship

Tertiary level students with an interest in construction and other related careers are being encouraged to apply for the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) 2024/25 Construction Scholarship.

The programme offers up to $1 million in funding to individual undergraduate students. Applications will be accepted up to November 24.

Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager at the NHT, Tameka Hill, told JIS News that the scholarship is intended to support talented individuals pursuing careers in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Urban Planning, and other related fields at the University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica or the University of the West Indies (UWI).

“As the premier housing provider, the NHT recognises the importance of nurturing a pool of skilled professionals to drive the development of affordable housing in Jamaica. Our scholarship programme is a strategic investment in the future of the construction industry. By supporting talented individuals, we aim to foster innovation, efficiency and sustainability in housing development,” she said.

Among the requirements are that individuals must be enrolled in a construction-related undergraduate programme, are Jamaican citizens and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.7 to qualify for the scholarship. Approximately 10 individuals will benefit from this initiative.

“We believe that these scholars will contribute to the NHT’s mission of providing safe, affordable and resilient housing solutions for all Jamaicans, and we welcome them to partner with the NHT in this mission,” Ms. Hall said.

Interested students can download the application form from the NHT’s website or complete the form online. Once completed, applications should be submitted via email to: nhtscholarships@nht.gov.jm.

Applicants are encouraged to save or print a copy of their completed application for their records.
