The Ministry of Information Culture, Youth and Sports (MICYS) is among a group to which the Strawberry Hill Hotel and Spa is apologizing publicly for a break down in key kitchen equipment “which prevented us from serving the food in a timely manner resulting in unexpected delays” at the dinner, dubbed Dining with Stars Under the Stars, held at the Hotel last night.
The Dinner, to raise funds for Jamaica’s sports programme, was one of the Celebratory activities being staged in honour of Jamaica’s recording – breaking team at the Beijing Olympics.
The Hotel says it is apologizing “unreservedly to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, (MICYS) the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAAs), the Jamaica Olympic Association, the athletes and all companies and individuals who came out in their numbers to support the Dinner.
The hotel says everyone involved had worked very hard to present a beautiful setting, wonderful entertainment and great food. “Our disappointment can only be matched by yours,” says the hotel in its statement issued today (Saturday October 4).
Strawberry Hill Hotel and Spa says that those who know about its “famous Sunday brunch, elegant atmosphere and heightened customer experience,” would know that last night’s service was not on par and “was an unusual occurrence.
The Hotel is offering last night’s dinner clientele a complimentary Sunday brunch or dinner-for-two within the next 60 days.
