St. James Residents Get Land Titles

October 8, 2012

The Full Story

The tenures of some 60 land holders in St. James, who previously had no titles for the properties they occupy, have been formalized after they received their documents last Friday (Oct. 5).

The presentations to the recipients, who occupy property in Retirement Phase I, Pitfour Phase III, and Meadowsvale, were made by Minister with responsibility for Housing in the Ministry of Transport, Works and Housing, Hon. Dr. Morais Guy, during a ceremony at the Granville All Age School in St. James.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Guy said the Government was cognizant of the opportunities for personal and community development which the titles presented. As such, he said the administration had moved to facilitate timely preparation of the documents.

The Minister, however, urged the beneficiaries to exercise diligence in the management and utilization of the titles, and ensure that they redound to their families’ benefit.

"You have given us a responsibility, as Government, and I am giving you a responsibility with the issuance of this title; and to say to you, utilize it in the best interest of yourself and your family," Dr. Guy underscored.
