“Great start with a good throw” is how Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, Honourable Olivia “Babsy” Grange, described the performance Paralympian Tanto Campbell, who won bronze in the discus at the Paralympics in Beijing, China on Sunday night.
Miss Grange was full of praise for Campbell, who also won a bronze medal at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. “His consistency is commendable and the entire Jamaica ought to be proud of his determination to continue to be among the best in the world in his sport.”
The Minister said Tanto Campbell, an amputee, and his compatriots in the Paralympics, represented the best examples of Jamaicans who would not be deterred by hampering circumstances of body or surroundings.
Minister Grange said that just like in the case of our Olympians, who recently shone brightly in the Olympics in Beijing, the whole country is behind Paralympians, who she is sure will also do very well.
