With a history spanning more 175 years, Jamaica’s rail network is one of the oldest in both the Western Hemisphere and the world. Jamaica was among the first countries to have a railroad, with the first tracks being laid as part of the then ‘Western Jamaica Connecting Railway’ on November 21, 1845.
