Select Tax Offices to Open This Saturday

Several Tax Offices across the island will be opened for business on Saturday March 28, 2015 as Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) provides taxpayers with added convenience to file and pay, as tax season comes to a close.

The Tax Offices scheduled to open are Constant Spring, May Pen, Mandeville, Montego Bay, Lucea, Santa Cruz, Port Antonio, Port Morant and all offices in the parish of St. Mary.

The Portmore Tax Office, which normally operates on Saturdays, will also be open. These locations will operate between the hours of 10am-4pm and offer the usual full suite of services.

This Saturday opening allows customers an additional day to pay their outstanding property tax for the 2014/15 period, ahead of the extension of the penalty for late payment being applied on March 31.

Outstanding property tax payments for earlier years, as well as the payments for the 2015/16 period, which becomes due April 1 can also be made. Persons will also be able to conduct all motor vehicle transactions, including renewing their driver’s licence.

Additionally, employers will be able to get free support to file their Employers Annual Return (S02) which is now mandated to be filed online, and becomes due March 31.

Business persons are also encouraged to take advantage of the special Saturday opening to file and pay their monthly GCT Returns along with any other Consumption Taxes also due on March 31.

In addition to select offices being open on Saturday, March 28, the Savanna-la-mar and Falmouth tax offices will be closing an hour later on March 26, 27, 30, and 31.
