The Full Story

The 2026/27 Sectoral Debate is slated to begin when the House of Representatives resumes its sitting next week Tuesday (April 21).

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and Peace, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, will open the debate.

He is expected to be followed by Leader of Opposition Business in the House, Phillip Paulwell.

Every year following the Budget Debate, the House of Representatives engages in another round of presentations known as the Sectoral Debate where Ministers and some Opposition members speak.

The Debate usually lasts for roughly six weeks starting in April.

Following the Sectoral Debate, Members of Parliament will take part in the Constituency Debate.
