Member of Parliament for Clarendon North Western, Phillip Henriques, has informed that several roadways within the constituency are to be rehabilitated.
Making his contribution to the State of the Constituency debate in the House of Representatives on October 27, Mr. Henriques said he sought funding to patch and repair the Bryant’s Piece Road, Coffee Piece/Copperwood road, and the Grantham/Morant roads.
“The Bryant’s Piece Road work has already started, and the other two areas are to start very soon,” Mr. Henriques said.
He stated that the allocation to tackle these repairs and improvements is $70 million, accessible through resources available at the National Works Agency.
He also informed that approval has been granted to fix the Trout Hall to Frankfield Road, the two breakaways adjacent to the Old Coffee Factory in Trout Hall, the Southwood Community bridge, the two dangerous breakaways on the Kilsyth to Grantham Road, and the breakaways in Cornhill and Smithville/Sunbury.
“In addition, the major breakaway and partial collapse along the Victoria to Thompson Town corridor in October 2020 has now been through the procurement process, and repairs to this important section of road should begin in the very near future,” Mr. Henriques said, adding that “all of these ongoing works and those on the horizon that I have just laid out total nearly $300 million”.
“For that I would like to thank the Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation (Hon. Everald Warmington), my colleague from South West St. Catherine, for his tremendous support, his visits to assess these roads and consideration to aid in these areas. The impact on the constituency will be significant,” the Member of Parliament said.
