On Thursday, August 18, nineteen public-sector workers were awarded full scholarships, under the Marcus Garvey Public Sector Graduate Scholarship, to pursue advanced studies at accredited universities in Jamaica, North America, and Europe. The Scholarship which is administered by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, was launched in 2020 at a value of $1 Billion to improve the human capital development of public sector workers. Attorney-at-law Captain Natalie James was named the top Marcus Garvey Public Sector scholarship recipient for 2023. A 19-year public service veteran, Captain James says she was overjoyed when she learned about her accomplishment.
