When the new Bail Act comes into effect, persons who abscond bail or fail to surrender to custody at appointed times or soon thereafter will face prison time if convicted.
Legal and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Marlene Malahoo Forte says the offence of absconding bail will carry greater penalties under the new Act.
