
With a deceptively meandering run up to the crease, Hurricane Melissa caught many Jamaicans unaware: some still certain that “nuh storm naah keep!” By the time she swept ashore trailing storm surge thirteen (13) feet above sea level between Belmont and New Hope, there was no hope left for Border, St Elizabeth. Still, in the aftermath, as vendors attached to the popular seaside stop, picked their way through mountains of debris in the West…one man rallied the troops in the East!
