The Good Book tells us that ‘Wisdom belongs to the aged and understanding to the old.’

And indeed, Jamaicans have benefitted from the wisdom of its older citizens often passed down through folklore, lived experiences and family values.

There are over 375 thousand elderly persons living in Jamaica, which is about 13. 9 percent of the population.

As the country pauses to recognize the contribution of its senior citizens, there is a call for Jamaicans to be intentionally respectful to people 60 years and older.
