Second Chances Through Sewing

The female wards at the South Camp Juvenile Correctional & Remand Centre now have access to a new sewing laboratory, where they are being equipped with marketable skills, including garment construction, tailoring and textile work, to support themselves and their families when they are reintegrated into society.  

As the saying goes, ‘its better late than never,’…this is also true for older persons who have never contributed to earning a pension in their golden years. The National Insurance Scheme, NIS, says there is still time. We’ll tell you more in today’s programme.

Across Jamaica, too many young people slip into situations that lead them into conflict with the law.
