Prime Minister Andrew Holness is again proposing a national identification system as part of the Government’s response to COVID-19. This, in relation to current discussions about how to determine beneficiaries under the government’s COVID Allocation of Resources for Employees (CARE) and other relief programmes. Mr. Holness says a national identification system would make identifying beneficiaries easier, making the allocation and dispensation of cash and other benefits more efficient.
