Imagine waking up one day facing the decision to part ways with a leg or an arm due to complications caused by illnesses such as diabetes. It’s not an easy decision to make, but a necessary one to prolong your life.
That’s a decision many diabetic patients face with many who are diagnosed with the disease fearing that they may have to amputate a limb.
Eula Mallet of Brainerd, St. Mary is very familiar with this situation, as in 2023 she found herself facing one of her greatest fears.
The 56-year-old mother of three, a diabetic patient, who had suffered from poor circulation in her legs for some time, saw her condition worsen following a tick bite.
She visited the Highgate Health Centre for treatment but had an allergic reaction to the medication which made the situation worse.
