Over 11,000 Trees Planted By The Forestry Department

The Forestry Department is reporting that over 11,000 trees were planted across the island earlier this month in observance of National Tree Planting Day (NTPD). The total includes approximately 300 seedlings planted by Jamaica Energy Partners on just over one hectare of land in the Blue Mountain 2 Forest Reserve in St. Thomas.

The facility now boasts a jogging trail, playground area, benches, as well as an area dedicated to playing table tennis and chess.  The park was renovated at a cost of approximately $16 million and officially handed over by the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports, and Education (CHASE) Fund, during a ceremony held on its grounds on Friday May 12.
