When it comes to health, a rule of thumb for many doctors is “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. This means encouraging patients to do regular screening exams and checkups to identify underlying issues and take preventative actions before they get worse.
While most persons agree with this approach, one of the major factors preventing them from adopting it is cost.
Thankfully, helping Jamaican’s overcome this challenge is one of the mandates of the National Health Fund (NHF), which it does by providing subsidies and other forms of support to help persons access treatment for a range of illnesses.
Due to the particularly high costs associated with treating the illness, cancer has received special attention from the NHF
