The Ministry of Agriculture is looking to revise its original target of 5 million fruit trees to 15 million, based on Ethiopia’s model of 353 million trees in being planted in 12 hours. According to the CNN, that tree planting exercise, done on July 29, was part of a wider reforestation campaign dubbed Green Legacy, and was spearheaded by the country’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Millions of Ethiopians across the country were invited to take part in the challenge which officials believe has led to a new world record.
