Health & Wellness Ministry Creates Physical Activity Guide in Braille

It’s all about inclusion as the Health and Wellness Ministry rolls out its Physical Activity Guide in Braille, aimed at reducing the rate of non-communicable diseases among blind persons. The document focuses on the messages and activities being promoted through Jamaica Moves and other health-based campaigns. The book was launched on May 17 and copies presented to representatives from various special needs groups.

The Centre, constructed in under five months, is the sixth parish justice centre in operation across the island.

All Flowers are Roses Summer Series is workshop designed to teach others about self defense physically and artistically by allowing its participants to express themselves with their words and their bodies. Being held at the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, the series is being done through the Poet Laureate Programme with the initiative’s name being inspired by a collection of poems written by the poet laureate of Jamaica, Lorna Goodison.

Ninety aspiring principals have been equipped with the skills and competencies to assume leadership roles in the nation’s public schools. These individuals, who were trained under the National College for Educational Leadership’s NCEL Aspiring Principals Programme, were presented with certificates, during a graduation exercise on Tuesday. Graduates were conferred with the Professional Qualification for Principalship PQP.

When you think of the word adoption you probably think of an adult doing so for children, but the Ministry of Health and Wellness through its Adopt a Clinic Initiative is trying to put a different spin on the word. In their case they would like to see primary healthcare facilities being adopted by corporate entities at home and abroad, and so far it has been reaping success.
