Jamaica is positioning itself as the ideal outsourcing destination in the Caribbean. With more businesses outsourcing their operations abroad, more entrepreneurs are capitalizing on this lucrative opportunity. Over 36,000 Jamaicans are currently employed in the business process outsourcing sector, working in various capacities. Customer service, tech support, software engineering, accounting and many others. With that said, the country has embarked on a 5-year project dubbed the Global Services Sector (GSS) Project geared at upskilling the labour force in the BPO sector. It is being funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
