The Cockpit Country is home to thousands of plants, animals and people. But with all the talk about what’s happening in the Protected Area, very little attention is being given to the human effect caused by the generations of families that have lived there for well over 150 years. Understanding the consequences of human activities on the spaces is vital if steps are to be taken to keep it secure going forward. Senior Director of the Forest Science and Technology Services Division at the Forestry Department, Donna Lowe. Ms Lowe and her colleagues have been working to educate citizens about the importance of what she dubs the largest contiguous block of karst limestone forest on this side of the world.
