In response to the ever-evolving global workforce, the University of the West Indies launched UWI STAR, a Short-Term Advancement and Resource Center that provides flexible, high-impact short courses aimed at empowering, upskilling, and encouraging lifelong learning. Of the approximately 1.3 million Jamaicans in the workforce, just 180,000 possess the advanced skills necessary to operate in a competitive environment, according to Professor Densil Williams, principal and pro-vice chancellor of UWI Mona.
