The Jamaica Teacher’s Association (JTA) Golden Torch Award for service to education was established in 1991, with the first awards presented in 1993. Thirty years later, more than 7,000 educators have received the award. Two of this year’s recipients are Principal of Zion Hill Primary, Lenford Purcell and teacher at Vauxhall High School, Christine Josephs.
