A major concern for most students pursuing a tertiary level education, is not being able to complete their studies due to lack of finances. To help mitigate this concern among local students, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. Nigel Clarke recently announced that the Government will be providing 250 full tuition scholarships for new science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers each year for the next five years.

Maia Chung has been working in media as a journalist for over 25 years, beginning her career at the age of 17 years old as a junior business writer for the Jamaica Herald. Being unable to matriculate to sixth form at Campion College High School due to a lack of finances, Chung said her family encouraged her to enter the working world.
