Breaching the Forest Act

Under the Forest Act, It is an offence to cut down trees in a forest reserve, forest management area, and forest estate without having a valid license.

These lands are managed by the Forestry Department which is responsible for conserving and protecting forests to preserve Jamaica’s natural environment.

Principal Director of the Forestry Department’s Legal and Forest Enforcement Services Division, Phillip Cross shares some of the most common offences committed in these protected areas.
